Structure
A structure is something that is built or put together to stand up and hold its shape, like a building, tower, or bridge.
Stability
Stability means how steady and strong something is. A stable structure doesn’t fall over easily.
Triangle
A triangle is a shape with three sides. It’s super strong and often used in building because it holds its shape really well.
Geodesic Dome
A geodesic dome is a round structure made of triangles. It’s very strong and spreads weight evenly.
Pylon
A pylon is a tall, tower-like structure that supports something, like a bridge or power line.
Compression
Compression is a force that pushes things together. In a structure, parts under compression are being squished.
Tension
Tension is a force that pulls things apart. In a structure, parts under tension are being stretched.
Joint
A joint is where two or more parts of a structure are connected. Joints need to be strong so the structure stays together.
Load
A load is the weight or force a structure has to hold. This could be from people, objects, or even the structure’s own weight.
Reinforce
To reinforce means to make something stronger. You can reinforce a newspaper structure by adding more layers or using stronger shapes.
