Drawing to Scale:
Architectural scales are expressed in ratios. In the real world, one meter is equal to one meter. This is considered a 1:1 scale. A drawing at a scale of 1:10 means that the object is 10 times smaller than in real life scale, 1:1. You could also say, 1 unit in the drawing is equal to 10 units in real life.
In building model furniture, first (1)determine what your reference figure is, such as a minifigure, small doll, or paper doll (2) Calculate the scale ratio (3) Determine dimensions in real life, then scale down using the scale ratio.
A Lego Minifigure is 4 cm tall. An average person is 160 cm tall(5 ft 4inches). So making furniture for a
minifigure would be at a scale of 4:160 , or 1:40.
A worktable is typically 20"(50 cm) tall. So a scale model table for a minifigure would be 50cm/40 or 1.25 cm tall.
